Hi Father!! (POEM)

Hi Father

Hi Father, I have walked through so many nights,

looking for you by faint light.

Ever since I was a child, I have longed for your face through dreams and whispers,

I long for a touch, a warm embrace.

I pictured your arms, the comfort they would have

Shelter of the storm, you will find.

I have walked far, and my hope has always been full of heart.

Through vales of doubts, by learning to cope.

But when I at last came to you, bare,

Your far-off eyes were distant and uncaring.

You looked right through me as though I were a ghost

A dream unattained, a hope dissipated.

The road was long, the suffering deep and real

Yet you seemed alien, without sentiment.

Hi Dad, I've learned to know some of the truths through the tears

That not all the wounds are healed by the passing years.

In your absence, I've found my way.

The strength and courage to face each day.

Though the longing remains, hurt obvious,

I will treasure the self-made person I have become.

And in my heart, I'll hold my own dear.
